Which wine with turkey?
It's a question that comes up often during the holidays. But if you think about it, the answer can be as simple as - what do you like?
On Turkey Day, there's a good match for every taste - whether you or your family and guests prefer white or red. Each of us has a very different set of taste buds. Some of us love spicy flavors, others prefer their food more mild. This means that the proper pairing of food and wine is individual, based on your personal likes and dislikes. If red wines are normally your favorite, Pinot Noir is the perfect red wine for holiday feasting. More robust than white wine, Pinot Noir has very little tannin and will likely blend well with the entire holiday meal. Serve it slightly chilled. Typical pinot noir flavors include earth, leather, vanilla (from the oak), and jam ... the fruity flavors of the jam often taste like raspberry, strawberry, and plum. This goes great with turkey or goose.
Chateau Faire Le Pont Winery’s 2006 Pinot Noir is a perfect pairing:
100% Pinot Noir from Milbrandt's "Evergreen" vineyard in George, WA and created in the true "French" style, our 2006 Pinot Noir is a supple and graceful example of a medium-bodied, red fruit focused, extremely enjoyable wine of finesse. Violet and rose petals intertwine with raspberries, cherries, delicate tannins and a touch of earthiness on the wine's smooth lingering finish.
If you prefer a white wine, Chateau Faire Le Pont Winery has two great choices:
2007 Viognier:
Creamy and lush. Fresh tropical fruit and citrus aromas and flavors with hints of cinnamon and all-spice. Enticing honey, white peach, orange blossom and melon turns to apricot and fig on the long sumptuous finish.
or
2007 Pinot Gris
Floral with just a hint of sweetness, our 2007 Pinot Gris exhibits intense peach, melon, apple, honey and almond flavors that sail on and on throughout the long, lingering finish.
Happy Turkey Day!
